Clutch Wasted Lands is officially on the way.
The Maryland rock veterans have announced their fourteenth studio album, Wasted Lands, arriving January 22, 2027 through Weathermaker Music, alongside the release of the new title track and an official music video.
The Clutch new album 2027 reunites the band with producer Machine for the first time since 2015’s Psychic Warfare, bringing together one of the most durable creative partnerships in modern heavy rock.
At the same time, the Clutch Wasted Lands single gives fans the first real taste of the record, while the upcoming Clutch US tour 2026 will put some of the new material onstage before the album arrives.
For a band more than three decades into its career, Clutch Wasted Lands sounds less like a comfortable victory lap and more like another reason to keep the engine running.
Clutch Wasted Lands Arrives January 22, 2027
The Clutch Wasted Lands album will be released worldwide on January 22, 2027 through the band’s own Weathermaker Music label.
It will be Clutch’s first full-length studio album since Sunrise on Slaughter Beach in 2022 and the fourteenth album in a catalog stretching back more than three decades.
The record was written and recorded at the band’s longtime Frederick, Maryland headquarters, the Doom Saloon.
That familiarity apparently did not translate into complacency.
Clutch scrapped earlier batches of material that felt too confined to the studio and rebuilt the album with live performance firmly in mind.
That decision shapes the entire Clutch new album 2027. The goal was not simply to create something that sounded good through headphones. The songs needed to move bodies in a room.
Clutch Wasted Lands Reunites the Band With Producer Machine
One of the bigger pieces of news surrounding Clutch Wasted Lands is the return of producer Machine.
This is the first time Clutch has worked with him on a full-length record since Psychic Warfare in 2015.
Machine has been involved with several major Clutch records over the years, including Pure Rock Fury, Blast Tyrant, Earth Rocker and Psychic Warfare.
That history gives Clutch Wasted Lands a certain gravitational pull before anyone even hears the full album.
The band already knows how Machine works. Machine already understands how Clutch works.
There is less time spent learning one another and more time spent figuring out how hard the next riff should hit.
That chemistry is already audible on the Clutch Wasted Lands single, which leans into the band’s familiar groove-heavy attack without simply retracing old ground.
Clutch Wasted Lands Single Turns Internet Nonsense Into a Monster
The Clutch Wasted Lands single comes with one of those stories that could only happen now.
Neil Fallon says the inspiration began after someone online accused him of reneging on a free T-shirt and dinner supposedly connected to a pay-to-play contest.
People tried to explain that the person had been scammed. Apparently, that explanation did not take.
So Fallon did what Neil Fallon does best. He turned the entire absurd situation into a monster.
The lyrics imagine a creature so bizarre and malevolent that references to H.P. Lovecraft and Stephen King are used mainly to explain that even they could not have invented it.
The locals in the song call the creature Neil Patrick Fallon.
That kind of sideways storytelling has always been one of Clutch’s secret weapons.
The Clutch Wasted Lands single takes something stupid and ordinary, drags it through mythology, horror and dry humor, and spits it back out as a riff-driven rock song.
Wasted Lands Keeps the Riffs but Pushes Melody Harder
The Clutch new album 2027 does not abandon the riff-heavy foundation that built the band’s reputation. That would be ridiculous.
But Wasted Lands also reportedly gives more room to melody and chord-driven songwriting.
Tracks such as “Colorado Fuel and Iron,” “Stage Fright” and “Loaf ’N Jug” reportedly lean into heavier melodic structures rather than relying exclusively on isolated riffs.
Then there is “Beware the Fever,” which introduces banjo to a Clutch record for the first time. That alone deserves a raised eyebrow.
The part originally came from a rough demo played by Fallon and recorded by drummer Jean-Paul Gaster during a writing session.
The band later attempted to recreate the performance more cleanly.
It did not work. The original demo had the thing. So that is what stayed.
That sort of decision tells you plenty about Clutch Wasted Lands. Perfect is not always better. Sometimes the ugly version has more blood in it.

The album reportedly moves through abandoned company towns, corporate greed, highway mythology, creature-feature horror and deep-space imagery.
That is a very Clutch sentence. One minute you are in a coal town. The next, something from another dimension is probably eating your truck.
Weathermaker Music Keeps Clutch Independent
Clutch Wasted Lands will arrive through Weathermaker Music, the independent label the band founded in 2008.
That matters because Clutch has spent much of its career operating on its own terms.
The four members have stayed together since forming in 1991, and the band’s independence has become almost as recognizable as its sound.
Weathermaker Music gave the band even more control over how records are released, promoted and distributed.
That independence is part of why Clutch Wasted Lands feels like another chapter rather than a corporate reset.
Clutch US Tour 2026 Starts in October
Before the album arrives, the Clutch US tour 2026 will put the band back on the road for a 16-date headlining run with Slomosa and Blood Vulture.
The tour begins October 16 at The Fillmore in Charlotte, North Carolina, and runs through November 7 at The NorVa in Norfolk, Virginia.
The Clutch US tour 2026 will give fans their first opportunity to hear at least some Wasted Lands material in the environment it was apparently designed for. Preferably with the floor vibrating.

The tour comes ahead of the January release of Clutch Wasted Lands, giving the new songs a chance to earn their bruises before the album officially lands.

The Clutch new album 2027 era will continue almost immediately with an Australian run in January featuring Corrosion of Conformity.

Those dates begin January 23 in Perth, just one day after Wasted Lands is released. The tour then moves through Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
That timing suggests Clutch is not planning to let the record sit quietly after release. Clutch Wasted Lands is being built for movement.
Thirty-Five Years and Still No Interest in Standing Still
Clutch has spent more than three decades becoming almost impossible to categorize cleanly. The Clutch Wasted Lands era seems to continue that refusal to settle.
There are familiar riffs, there’s melody and there is a banjo. There is a fictional monster named Neil Patrick Fallon. There are haunted towns, corporate appetites and antimatter. Naturally.
And somehow, all of that still sounds completely believable coming from Clutch.
The Clutch Wasted Lands single is out now, the Clutch US tour 2026 begins October 16, and the Clutch new album 2027 arrives January 22 through Weathermaker Music.
After thirty-five years together, Clutch still sounds like a band more interested in what comes next than what already worked.
