Detroit hardcore veterans Walls of Jericho return with another bruising preview of their first studio album in a decade, transforming rage, survival, and inner conflict into a relentless musical assault.
Ten years without a new Walls of Jericho album is a long time to let that much aggression build up.
Now, the Detroit metalcore pioneers are preparing to unleash System Error: Humanity, their first full-length release since 2016’s No One Can Save You From Yourself. Arriving November 13 through Napalm Records, the album promises an uncompromising return to the band’s hardcore foundations.
The latest warning shot is Walls of Jericho True Til Death, the third single following “The Ascent” and “Agency.”
Driven by punishing breakdowns, thrash-influenced riffs, and Candace Buckingham’s commanding vocals, “True Til’ Death” confronts a difficult reality: the anger that once helped someone survive can eventually become the very thing holding them back.
Walls of Jericho True Til Death Turns Survival Into Strength
There is a particular kind of anger that doesn’t disappear when the circumstances that created it are gone.
It lingers. Sometimes it becomes armor. Sometimes that armor gets too heavy to carry.
That tension sits at the center of “True Til’ Death,” a song about recognizing destructive emotional patterns and finding a way to transform them into something that serves a purpose.
Buckingham explains the inspiration behind the track:
“‘True Til’ Death’ is about facing the inner turmoil that once served you as a way to survive, and learning to turn it into fuel. It’s choosing positive aggression over hopelessness, using that pain to keep fighting.”
Musically, the single delivers the kind of direct, physically confrontational hardcore that established Walls of Jericho’s reputation.
The opening builds tension through threatening percussion before giving way to heavy guitars, forceful rhythms, and breakdowns designed for maximum impact.
Yet beneath that aggression lies a message of perseverance rather than surrender.
Instead of glorifying rage for its own sake, the song examines what happens when survival instincts must evolve into something healthier and more sustainable.
That’s a more compelling message than another generic invitation to destroy everything in sight.
System Error: Humanity Marks Walls of Jericho’s First Album in a Decade
The upcoming System Error: Humanity represents the band’s first new studio album in ten years.
Across 15 tracks, Walls of Jericho revisit the confrontational hardcore sound that helped establish them as one of Detroit’s most influential heavy acts.
The record opens with “True Til’ Death,” immediately establishing its aggressive direction.
Songs including “The Ascent” and “Untouchable” emphasize suffocating guitar work and punishing rhythms, while “The Flame” and “Agency” introduce faster, thrash-driven momentum.
Lyrically, the album explores themes of personal agency, resistance, human rights, and reclaiming control in a world that often seems determined to strip it away.
Tracks including “Borrowed Ground” and “Last Judgement” reinforce those themes, placing personal struggle within a broader atmosphere of confrontation and social unrest.
The album’s title suggests a world in which humanity itself has become the malfunctioning machinery.
But the message isn’t simply that everything is broken. It’s that people still have the capacity to change what they’ve created.
Randy Blythe and Guy Kozowyk Bring Additional Firepower
Walls of Jericho have recruited some formidable guests for their upcoming album.
Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe appears on “Broken Mouths Can’t Speak,” joining Buckingham for a vocal confrontation that brings together two unmistakable voices from modern heavy music.
Meanwhile, Guy Kozowyk of The Red Chord contributes vocals to “Humanity,” adding another layer of extreme-metal intensity.
“A Brighter Fire” also features guest contributions from Patsy Puopolo and Matthew Ruby.
These collaborations broaden the album’s already aggressive musical palette without pulling attention away from Walls of Jericho’s identity.
Kurt Ballou Produces Walls of Jericho’s New Album
Behind the production desk is Kurt Ballou, guitarist for Converge and one of underground heavy music’s most respected producers.
Known for his work with bands including Nails, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Code Orange, and Every Time I Die, Ballou has built a reputation for capturing abrasive, high-impact performances without sacrificing the character of the musicians involved.
Recorded at God City Studio with Ballou and Zach Weeks, System Error: Humanity is produced and mixed by Ballou, with mastering handled by Nick Townsend.
For a band whose reputation was forged through relentless live performances, that production approach feels particularly appropriate.
The objective isn’t to sand down the rough edges. It’s to make sure every impact lands.

Watch Walls of Jericho True Til Death
For Walls of Jericho, returning after a decade without a studio album isn’t simply about proving they can still deliver punishing hardcore.
It’s about showing that aggression can evolve without losing its power.
“True Til’ Death” captures that philosophy through uncompromising music and an unexpectedly reflective message about pain, identity, and perseverance.
Ten years may have passed since their previous album, but Walls of Jericho haven’t forgotten how to make themselves heard.
And they’re certainly not interested in returning quietly.
