Queens of the Stone Age and Pixies Announce Massive 2027 U.S. Tour Ahead of New Album

October 23, 2026

Written By Caine Blackthorn

Two of alternative rock’s most influential bands are preparing to share the stage, and the combination promises considerably more than a polite evening of greatest hits.

Queens of the Stone Age and Pixies have announced a 2027 U.S. tour, bringing Josh Homme’s desert-rock powerhouse together with the pioneering alternative band whose loud-quiet dynamics helped reshape modern guitar music.

The 16-date American run begins May 1 in San Diego, California, and concludes May 24 in Boston, Massachusetts, with experimental hip-hop outfit Wheelchair Sports Camp joining both bands on every date.

The announcement arrives as Queens of the Stone Age prepare to release their new studio album, Perfecth, on October 30 through Matador Records.

And judging by their latest material, Homme and company aren’t particularly interested in playing it safe.

Queens of the Stone Age and Pixies Unite for 2027 Tour

The pairing brings together two bands whose musical approaches have influenced generations of alternative musicians.

Queens of the Stone Age emerged from the California desert-rock scene in the 1990s, developing a hypnotic blend of heavy guitar riffs, unsettling grooves, psychedelic textures, and Homme’s unmistakable vocal delivery.

Pixies, meanwhile, became one of alternative rock’s defining influences through their explosive contrasts, jagged guitars, surreal songwriting, and the volatile interplay between melody and distortion.

Their landmark recordings, including Surfer Rosa and Doolittle, helped establish a musical vocabulary that would influence Nirvana and countless other artists.

Together, the two bands represent different generations of alternative rock, but both share a refusal to make guitar music predictable.

The 2027 tour offers fans an opportunity to experience those distinct approaches on the same stage.

Queens of the Stone Age Prepare to Release Perfecth

The tour announcement comes just days before Queens of the Stone Age release their next studio album.

Perfecth, due October 30 through Matador Records, follows their 2023 album In Times New Roman….

Produced by Josh Homme and bassist Michael Shuman, the nine-track record continues the band’s exploration of unconventional arrangements, dark humor, and unpredictable musical turns.

Listeners have already received several previews, including “Insignificant Other,” “Easy Street,” featuring Nikki Lane, and “Where the Goth Girls At?”.

The latter has attracted particular attention for its theatrical presentation and accompanying music video.

Rather than retreating into nostalgia, Queens of the Stone Age appear determined to keep pushing their sound into increasingly unusual territory.

Queens of the Stone Age Perform Where the Goth Girls At? on Jimmy Fallon

The band celebrated the approaching album release with an appearance on NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on October 21.

The performance marked the live debut of “Where the Goth Girls At?”, bringing the song’s twisted atmosphere to a national television audience.

The track’s official music video also features appearances by comedian Steve Agee, dancer Scarlett Kapella, and singer-actress Lou Lou Safran.

With Perfecth arriving October 30, the television appearance served as another introduction to the band’s latest creative direction.

For longtime listeners, the new material suggests that Homme remains committed to making music that refuses easy classification.

Two Generations of Alternative Rock, One Unpredictable Tour

There is something particularly compelling about this pairing.

Pixies helped establish the musical possibilities that later alternative-rock bands would explore, while Queens of the Stone Age took those possibilities into stranger, heavier, and more rhythmically obsessive territory.

Neither band built its reputation by following a convenient formula.

And neither has been especially concerned with pleasing everyone.

That makes the approaching tour more than a conventional double bill.

It brings together two influential musical identities, each responsible for changing the way guitar-driven alternative music sounds.

With a brand-new Queens of the Stone Age album arriving October 30 and a major American tour following in May, 2027 is shaping up to be another significant chapter for Josh Homme and company.

For fans of heavy grooves, distorted guitars, strange atmospheres, and music that occasionally takes a sharp left turn into the unexpected, this is one tour worth keeping on the radar.
