Ozzy Black Sabbath Film Premiere Draws Rock Legends as Sharon Reveals Final Concert Warnings

October 16, 2026

The Ozzy Black Sabbath film premiere brought heavy metal royalty to Los Angeles on October 14, 2026, as Sharon and Jack Osbourne hosted the world premiere of Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning at the Orpheum Theatre. The film preserves Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert, performed with the original Black Sabbath lineup in Birmingham just 17 days before his death in July 2025.

The purple-carpet gathering was both a celebration and a painful reunion. Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler and Bill Ward joined members of the Osbourne family alongside Slash, Gene Simmons, Robert Trujillo, Scott Ian, Chad Smith, Lzzy Hale, Jake E. Lee, Nuno Bettencourt and other musicians whose careers bear the imprint of Sabbath and Ozzy.

Ozzy Black Sabbath Film Premiere Reunites Rock and Metal Veterans

Sharon and Jack Osbourne welcomed guests to the October 14 screening. Among the attendees were Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, KISS co-founder Gene Simmons, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, Alice in Chains bassist Mike Inez and Black Sabbath’s classic rhythm section, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward.

That guest list reflects the scale of Ozzy’s influence. Black Sabbath helped establish the vocabulary of heavy metal, while Ozzy’s solo career introduced generations of listeners to guitarists and songs that became pillars of the genre. The premiere reunited artists from different branches of that history under one roof.

The Ozzy Black Sabbath film premiere also carried a charitable element: organizers announced that half of the premiere ticket proceeds would support homeless charities in Los Angeles. The worldwide cinema release is scheduled to begin October 28.

Sharon Osbourne Opens Up About Ozzy’s Final Performance

In an interview published ahead of the film’s release, Sharon Osbourne described the serious medical concerns surrounding the Birmingham farewell. She said six doctors warned Ozzy that performing could be fatal, and that he was hospitalized a week before the concert.

According to Sharon, Ozzy understood the risks but insisted on taking the stage. Her account gives new context to a night fans already knew was extraordinary. It also underlines an important distinction: her comments recount the warnings surrounding the performance; they do not establish that the concert caused his death.

The July 5, 2025 event at Villa Park marked Ozzy’s final live appearance. He performed a solo set before rejoining Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward for one last Black Sabbath performance in the band’s hometown.

Inside Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning

Produced by Mercury Studios and distributed theatrically by Trafalgar Releasing, the concert film brings viewers back to Villa Park and the farewell organized around the band’s original lineup. It includes Ozzy’s solo performance, Black Sabbath’s final appearance, behind-the-scenes material and contributions from fellow musicians.

The July concert was much larger than a single band’s set. Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Tool, Gojira, Anthrax and other major names performed during the all-day event, reflecting the generations of artists shaped by Black Sabbath’s music.

According to premiere coverage, the film holds back Ozzy’s emotional performance of “Mama, I’m Coming Home” for its ending. That editorial choice gives the final moments an added weight now that the singer is gone.

Metal Lair previously reported on the theatrical announcement in Ozzy Black Sabbath Back to the Beginning Hits Theaters October 28. That story covers the release plans; this follow-up documents the premiere and Sharon Osbourne’s new comments.

Ozzy Black Sabbath Film: October 28 Theater Release

Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning starts its limited worldwide cinema release on October 28, 2026. Availability will depend on participating theaters and locations. The official Back to the Beginning website provides information about the film and screenings.

For those who watched the July concert unfold, the film offers a return to an unprecedented farewell. For everyone who missed it, the screening provides a chance to see the moment Ozzy and Black Sabbath closed their performing history together.

One Last Night in Birmingham, Remembered in Los Angeles

For a related chapter in the band’s continuing legacy, Metal Lair also covered Tony Iommi’s new solo album and tribute to Ozzy Osbourne. The farewell’s influence also reaches forward through plans to bring Ozzfest back to Birmingham’s Villa Park in 2027. The premiere also arrives amid a very different attempt to preserve Ozzy’s presence. Metal Lair covered the plans for an interactive digital version of the singer in Ozzy Osbourne to Return as an AI Avatar. Our follow-up, Digital DNA or Artificial Sacrilege? The Battle Over Ozzy’s Immortal Avatar, examines the arguments about authenticity, grief and digital legacy. Unlike that proposed simulation, Back to the Beginning documents a performance Ozzy actually gave. The Ozzy Black Sabbath film premiere did not attempt to recreate Villa Park. It brought the musicians, family and friends who knew the importance of that night together to watch it preserved on film. What began as a planned farewell is now an irreplaceable record of Ozzy Osbourne’s final performance.

The film arrives in theaters October 28, but its most affecting detail may be the simplest: Ozzy got his Birmingham goodbye, with the original Black Sabbath lineup beside him.
