The CROWBAR North American Tour 2026 kicks off this week, sending the Louisiana sludge metal legends back onto the road for an extensive run of crushing riffs, headlining dates, massive support slots, and several major fall appearances.
Led by vocalist and riff architect Kirk Windstein, CROWBAR’s current lineup features guitarist Matt Brunson, drummer Tommy Buckley, and returning bassist Pat Bruders. The band will begin the journey with two headlining shows on September 15 in Greenville, South Carolina and September 16 in Richmond, Virginia before joining Dying Fetus and Sanguisugabogg for a lengthy North American trek.
Beginning September 17 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the tour continues through October 22 in Nashville, Tennessee. Left To Suffer, Deterioration, and Scorching Tomb will provide additional support on select dates.
CROWBAR will also host meet-and-greet opportunities throughout the tour.
CROWBAR North American Tour 2026 Brings Louisiana Heaviness Across the Continent
For more than three decades, CROWBAR have built their reputation on music that feels almost geological in weight. Windstein’s unmistakable riffs, wounded vocals, hardcore backbone, and suffocating doom atmosphere helped establish a sound that became one of the foundations of American sludge metal.
The CROWBAR North American Tour 2026 puts that legacy alongside one of the heaviest packages traveling this fall.
Dying Fetus and Sanguisugabogg lead the main run, with CROWBAR bringing a very different kind of brutality to the bill. Where death metal often attacks with speed and technical violence, CROWBAR have always understood the ugly power of making a riff move slowly enough to feel inevitable.
The first show of the Dying Fetus and Sanguisugabogg run takes place September 17 at Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia.
CROWBAR Will Join Slayer for Reign In Blood 40th Anniversary Shows
The fall does not end when the CROWBAR North American Tour 2026 wraps in October.
CROWBAR will travel to California in November for two special Slayer performances celebrating the 40th anniversary of Reign In Blood.
The shows take place November 13 and November 14 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California, with CROWBAR appearing alongside Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, and Cavalera.
Four decades after Reign In Blood changed the trajectory of extreme metal, the anniversary shows bring together bands representing several generations of heaviness.
CROWBAR Heads Home for The Great NOLA Trendkill
Later in November, CROWBAR will return to Louisiana for The Great NOLA Trendkill, a two-day metal takeover scheduled for November 20 and 21 at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans.
The enormous lineup features Pantera, Down, Black Label Society, Power Trip, Corrosion Of Conformity, CROWBAR, Pig Destroyer, Eyehategod, Rāde, and Herakleion.
The event also marks Pantera’s first New Orleans performance in 30 years and pays tribute to the 30th anniversary of the band’s 1996 album The Great Southern Trendkill.
For CROWBAR, the event carries another layer of history. Windstein is also a member of Down, tying together several branches of the New Orleans heavy music family represented across the weekend.
Zero And Below Remains CROWBAR’s Latest Studio Album
CROWBAR’s most recent studio album, Zero And Below, was released March 4, 2022 through MNRK Heavy.
Produced, mixed, and mastered by Duane Simoneaux at OCD Recording And Production in Metairie, Louisiana, the album became the twelfth studio record in CROWBAR’s catalog.
Zero And Below leaned especially hard into the doom-heavy side of the band’s sound, drawing comparisons to the oppressive atmosphere of their landmark 1998 album Odd Fellows Rest.
Songs including “Chemical Godz,” “Bleeding From Every Hole,” “It’s Always Worth The Gain,” and the title track carry the familiar CROWBAR combination of massive guitar weight, emotional exhaustion, melody, and stubborn resilience.
The record earned strong praise upon release. Decibel described its atmosphere as crushingly dark and heavy, while Metal Injection emphasized the record’s swampy, slow-burning character. The response was hardly surprising. Few bands have spent this many decades making misery sound quite this enormous.
From The Slugs to 36 Years of CROWBAR
CROWBAR emerged in 1990 from the ashes of The Slugs, with founding members Kirk Windstein and Jimmy Bower searching for something outside the dominant thrash metal sound of the era.
Their idea was deceptively simple: combine the enormous weight of doom metal with the aggression and physical energy of hardcore.
Influences including Black Sabbath, Saint Vitus, Trouble, Melvins, Carnivore, and East Coast hardcore helped shape the foundation, but CROWBAR quickly became something unmistakably their own.
That sound would eventually become inseparable from New Orleans metal.
Over 36 years and twelve studio albums, Windstein has remained the constant through numerous lineup changes while CROWBAR’s influence spread far beyond sludge. Their fingerprints can be heard throughout doom, hardcore, stoner metal, metalcore, and multiple generations of underground heavy music.
CROWBAR never needed speed to sound dangerous.
Sometimes the heaviest thing in the room is the riff that refuses to move out of your way.

Thirty-six years after Windstein first began dragging those riffs through the Louisiana mud, CROWBAR remain exactly where they belong:
