Howard Jones and Adam Dutkiewicz have finally put a sound to the anticipation surrounding Burn Eternal. Their new project’s debut single, “Wounds I’ve Made,” arrived November 5, offering the first substantial taste of a collaboration that has been years in the making.
For listeners who remember the chemistry between Jones and Dutkiewicz in Killswitch Engage, the reunion is more than a familiar pairing of names. It puts Jones’s unmistakable melodic intensity back alongside Dutkiewicz’s muscular guitar work, this time under a new banner rather than as an attempt to rewrite Killswitch history.
Burn Eternal debut album and first single
The self-titled Burn Eternal album is scheduled for February 26, 2027, through Metal Blade Records. “Wounds I’ve Made” opens the nine-track record. The song explores regret, personal change and the difficult necessity of moving forward, according to Jones’s explanation of its themes.
Dutkiewicz revealed that “Wounds I’ve Made” was among the first songs written for the project around six years ago, underlining just how long this reunion has been taking shape.
The album’s announced tracklist is “Wounds I’ve Made,” “No Escape,” “Blackheart,” “To Bear the Cross,” “Scared of Shadows,” “Bitter Pill,” “Learning to Let Go,” “Born Again,” and “Fell Silent.”
A reunion with its own identity
Jones and Dutkiewicz previously worked together during Jones’s tenure in Killswitch Engage. Burn Eternal brings their creative partnership into a distinct project, with an album on the calendar and an actual song fans can hear rather than another round of studio speculation.
The question now is whether the full record will build on that connection or take the pair into unexpected territory. Either way, the wait has finally produced music.
