GWAR and Joe Bob Briggs Announce New Album, Unleash “Splatter-Fu”

October 16, 2026

Written By Caine Blackthorn

GWAR and Joe Bob Briggs are joining forces, and the result sounds like something dragged out of a drive-in theater after midnight, soaked in fake blood and questionable bodily fluids.

The legendary shock-metal maniacs have teamed up with horror host Joe Bob Briggs for GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein, arriving November 13, 2026, through GWAR’s Pit Records.

The announcement also brings a new single and video, “Splatter-Fu,” written specifically for GWAR by John Brennan.

Because apparently four decades of intergalactic slaughter weren’t enough. Now they’re invading the drive-in.

GWAR Meets the Last Drive-In

Few bands have treated horror, absurdity, theatrical violence, and heavy metal with the same enthusiasm as GWAR.

And few television personalities have celebrated low-budget horror, cult cinema, and gloriously questionable filmmaking quite like Joe Bob Briggs.

Briggs, known for The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs and Monstervision, has built his reputation championing the kind of films polite society occasionally wishes would remain buried.

GWAR, meanwhile, has spent more than four decades making polite society deeply uncomfortable.

The collaboration celebrates both GWAR’s long-running career and Briggs’ 40 years in television.

It’s a meeting of two entertainment worlds that have never been particularly interested in behaving themselves.

What’s on the New Album?

GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein is divided into two distinct halves.

Side A features GWAR’s performance from The Last Drive-In’s 2025 Halloween special, combining GWAR originals with material associated with Briggs’ horror program.

Side B belongs to John Brennan and the Bigfeet, the show’s house band, performing music written for its final two seasons.

The album is therefore part live GWAR release, part horror-show soundtrack, and entirely comfortable inhabiting the stranger corners of popular culture.

For longtime fans of both GWAR and Joe Bob Briggs, that combination should require very little explanation.

To accompany the announcement, GWAR has released “Splatter-Fu,” a song written for the band by John Brennan.

An official video is also available.

The release provides the first taste of the collaboration ahead of its November arrival.

GWAR’s Fall Tour Is Coming, Too

GWAR will also hit the road for the Gor Gor Must Die! tour, beginning October 27 in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Florida audiences have several opportunities to witness the carnage, including Jacksonville on October 29, the Headbangers Boat sailing from Miami, Fort Lauderdale on November 4, and Orlando on November 5.

The tour also features Midnight and Mac Sabbath, with additional support varying by date.

A Match Made in Horror Heaven, or Somewhere Considerably Worse

There’s something wonderfully appropriate about GWAR and Joe Bob Briggs celebrating their respective histories together.

Both built their audiences around entertainment that embraces excess, theatricality, and the wonderfully grotesque.

And neither has ever seemed terribly concerned about whether the neighbors approve.

With GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein, heavy metal’s most notorious extraterrestrial monsters and one of horror television’s most recognizable personalities have found a particularly strange way to commemorate four decades of mayhem.

Honestly, the bigger surprise is that it took them this fucking long.

GWAR and the Last Drive-In-Stein arrives November 13 via Pit Records.
