The Ghost Wolves Lend A Paw: Supporting Galveston Conservation
A Texas band called The Ghost Wolves is putting its name to work for the real animals behind it. The Austin duo’s new release, Lend A Paw, is a benefit project supporting research into the elusive canids found on Galveston Island, animals that carry a genetic legacy linked to the endangered red wolf.
The Ghost Wolves will release Lend A Paw through Saustex Records on October 31, 2026, with proceeds earmarked for the conservation effort. The benefit’s presale and donation information is available through the accompanying LINK.
The Ghost Wolves, the Austin duo of Carley and Jonny Wolf, have long combined their music with animal advocacy. Their wolf-dogs have accompanied them on tour, and their work extends beyond the stage through the nonprofit Hacienda Loba Blanca. This project brings that commitment into focus through a record tied directly to wildlife research.
This year the band is partnering with researchers Dr. Bridgett von Holdt Ph.D. (Princeton University; Guggenheim Fellow 2026), Kristin E. Brzeski, Associate Professor (Michigan Technological University + Gulf Coast Canine Project Director) and Josh Henderson, Civilian, Animal Control Supervisor (Galveston City Marshal’s Office) to raise funds and awareness for the band’s namesake, a coyote with the genetic legacy of the critically endangered red wolf. Regionally they are referred to as “ghost wolves” because they are so elusive, rare and are able to hide in plain sight on Galveston Island in Texas.
“The Gulf Coast Canine Project would be grateful indeed to be the recipient of these funds,” says Josh Henderson of the Galveston City Marshal’s Office. “We are looking at purchasing more GPS collars soon and the research we do costs a lot of money. “
Video explaining the project is available HERE.

“We have a big event planned for Saturday, October 24,” says Kristin Brzeski. “It’s called Wild Galveston: Celebrating Our Ghost Wolves, and will begin with an Interactive Village at the Moody Gardens 3D Theater, followed by the HOWL-O-WEEN Ghost Wolf Expo. The Endangered Wolf Center team will join us to talk about how ghost wolf DNA is contributing to red wolf recovery. The Galveston Island Brewing will host a family-friendly HOWL-O-WEEN celebration and rebrew its Gulf Ghost Red Lager, with a portion of the proceeds supporting the research.”
The Ghost Wolves plan to generate more attention for this fundraising effort with a live performance the day of the album release.
“We’ve been tracking the Galveston Ghost Wolves for a long time and finally decided we’d stand up and do something in their honor,” says Carley Wolf. “We completed this record in one afternoon on a blindingly, nuclear-meltdown hot day in San Antonio,” Jonny Wolf adds.
Lend A Paw was recorded in May 2026 at Jet Bass Studios and was produced by Justin Morris. It will be released by Saustex Records on October 31, 2026. Pre-sale link and donation page in LINK.
