Wildernesses Release New Single ‘English Darkness’

London-based dreamo upstarts Wildernesses have released a new single, titled English Darkness.

It’s the band’s second single and lyrically explores frontman Phillip Morris’ work as an NHS-approved mental health professional (AMHP) observing a psychiatric admission from both sides of the coin. The track juxtaposes a young female’s crisis with the narrator’s questionable coping strategies.

The track permeates with a feeling of dark and cold autumn nights, with vocalist Phillip Morris’ voice adding the warmth of a distant burning bonfire. Sonically, ‘English Darkness’ channels the brooding intensity of post-rock with a conventional pop sensibility — think along the lines of Mogwai meets The Cure.

With this latest track, Wildernesses once again show why they’re ones to watch.
