        WORLD METAL WEEKLY

        Before you go underground

        The World Metal Weekly FAQ.

What is the World Metal Weekly Hub?

A: The World Metal Weekly Hub is Metal Lair’s permanent home for exploring metal scenes around the world. It brings every World Metal Weekly country edition together in one place, making it easy to browse featured countries, discover bands, and dig into the music behind each scene.

How do I find a World Metal Weekly edition for a specific country?

A: Use the Countries A–Z directory to browse every country featured in World Metal Weekly. Each country links to its full edition, where you’ll find bands selected to represent different corners of that nation’s metal scene.

What goes into a country edition?

A: World Metal Weekly country editions feature a curated selection of bands. The selections can span established names, underground discoveries, different generations, and multiple metal subgenres rather than attempting to rank the “best” bands from that country.

What is the World Metal Weekly Listening Guide?

A: The Listening Guide collects the music chosen for every country featured in the series. Each edition contributes Gateway Tracks and Deep Cuts, with an entry point and a deeper exploration for every featured band.

        What is a Gateway Track?

A: A Gateway Track is the song Metal Lair recommends as an entry point to a band. It may be particularly representative, immediate, influential, or simply a strong place to begin if you’ve never heard the artist before.

        What is a Deep Cut?

A: A Deep Cut takes the exploration further. Rather than automatically choosing another famous song, Metal Lair digs deeper into the band’s catalog for a track that deserves discovery and reveals another side of the artist.

Are the bands and songs ranked?

A: No. World Metal Weekly isn’t a competition, and placement doesn’t indicate that one band, country, or song is considered better than another. The goal is discovery, not manufacturing a metal Olympics where somebody has to go home with the bronze.

Does the hub include every metal band from each country?

A: Not remotely, nor could a small selection of bands represent everything happening within an entire national scene. Each edition is a curated starting point designed to introduce listeners to artists, history, sounds, and underground pathways worth exploring further.

Will more countries be added to the World Metal Weekly Hub?

A: Yes. The hub is a growing archive. As World Metal Weekly explores new countries, their editions, featured artists, Gateway Tracks, and Deep Cuts will be added here, gradually building a larger map of metal around the world.

How are countries chosen for World Metal Weekly?

A: There is no requirement that a country have a huge internationally recognized metal industry. Part of the point is venturing beyond the scenes that already dominate metal coverage and finding worthwhile music wherever it exists.

        Where should I start?

A: Pick a country you know nothing about. That’s half the fun. Start with its Gateway Tracks, descend into the Deep Cuts, then explore the full country edition for the bands, history, and scene behind the music.

Are there other Metal Lair recurring series and hub pages?

A: Yes. World Metal Weekly is part of Metal Lair’s growing collection of recurring original series exploring metal from different angles. Other ongoing features include:

MetalLair.net is a metal zine muttering to itself about seo and blastbeats at 3 AM powered by caffeine, riffs, a severe lack of sleep, and a dog wondering why the human is still awake.

Sometimes it’s Kevin passing out mid Seven Deadly Songs.

Sometimes it’s digging up forgotten records no one else is talking about.

Always, it’s built for people who actually live this music.

If that sounds like you, you’re already one of us.

Supporting Metal Lair means keeping it independent, loud, and real with no corporate filters, no watered-down takes. If you want to help keep it alive…
