Austria’s long reigning tyrants of Black Death chaos, BELPHEGOR, have emerged once more from the abyss with a scorched earth declaration: “Sanctus Diaboli Confidimus.” A firestorm of ritualistic ferocity and devil glorifying devotion. This new hymn of darkness marks a powerful new beginning for the band, now officially signed to Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM).

Hellbound and battle-hardened, BELPHEGOR’s latest single signals not just a continuation, but an escalation a blasphemous ascent into even darker realms. The track delivers a hypnotic blend of savage precision and solemn grandeur, conjuring fire, steel, and the unshackled will to reign over one’s own domain.
“This track is a glorification of the Devil,” declares frontman Helmuth, co-founder and spiritual architect of the band. “It’s about passion, discipline, and absolute freedom. A hymn for those who choose to rule their own fate.”
The release is also the band’s first under their new pact with RPM and for Helmuth, it’s a homecoming of sorts. “Working with Gerardo Martinez again feels right. He was the one who believed in BELPHEGOR back in 2006 and brought us to North America. This new era with RPM feels powerful it’s a circle complete.”
Martinez, RPM co founder, shares the enthusiasm: “Helmuth and I go way back. I’ve always respected BELPHEGOR’s uncompromising vision. We’re proud to welcome them to RPM and thrilled for what’s to come.”
A Legacy Carved in Fire and Blasphemy
Since their inception in 1993, BELPHEGOR have remained a dominant and unholy force in the world of extreme metal. Founded by Helmuth Lehner, the band has spent over three decades weaving black magick and death metal into a sound that’s unmistakably theirs brutal, complex, and steeped in ritual.
From the sacrilegious carnage of The Last Supper and Blutsabbath, to the sharpened elegance of Lucifer Incestus, Bondage Goat Zombie, and Totenritual, each release has ventured further into forbidden territory. Their 2022 opus, The Devils, raised the bar once again recorded at Fascination Street Studios with the legendary Jens Bogren, the album was a nine-track descent into infernal grandeur.
Tracks like Glorifizierung des Teufels and Virtus Asinaria Prayer layered choral invocations over storming riffs, while Damnation Höllensturz fused dynamic structures with multilingual incantations. Wrapped in the haunting artwork of Seth Siro Anton, The Devils was hailed as one of the band’s most ambitious records and proof that BELPHEGOR continue to evolve without compromising their blasphemous essence.
That evolution did not go unnoticed. In 2023, BELPHEGOR took home the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the Hard and Heavy category. A rare nod from their homeland to a band that has defiantly walked its own path outside mainstream norms.
Infernal Stage Rituals & The Thirteenth Seal
But BELPHEGOR’s power isn’t confined to the studio. Their live shows are unholy rites unto themselves blood soaked spectacles of smoke, fire, and incantation performed across the globe. From Wacken Open Air to Hellfest, Knotfest to Bloodstock, they’ve turned every stage into a temple of desecration.
Now, as they approach the creation of their 13th full-length album, the band stands on the brink of something deeper. In occult numerology, thirteen is no accident it signifies the breaking of seals, the crossing of thresholds, the tearing of the final veil between the known and the unknown.
And BELPHEGOR intends to break that seal wide open.
Early glimpses suggest the next album will be a continuation and elevation of the ritualistic darkness channeled in The Devils. Expect deeper incantations. Sharper violence. More primal ceremony. It’s not just an album. It’s a summoning.
