Swedish death metal lifers Vomitory are back with another blast of pure brutality.
The band has dropped a new single, “Wrath Unbound,” taken from their upcoming full-length In Death Throes, set for release on April 10 via Metal Blade Records. If you were wondering whether Vomitory still had teeth after all these years, this answers that question immediately and violently.
According to drummer Tobias Gustafsson, the track leans hard into the band’s heaviest instincts:
“‘Wrath Unbound’ is inspired by dark powers and built for headbanging… probably the heaviest song on the album. The melody is catchy, but the double bass will roll over you like a tank.”
There’s a clear lineage running through it too, with nods to Iron Maiden, Bolt Thrower, and Carcass, though Vomitory remain firmly rooted in their own brand of uncompromising Swedish death metal.

The new album, In Death Throes, follows their 2023 return All Heads Are Gonna Roll, a record that re-established Vomitory as a band not interested in nostalgia so much as momentum. This time around, the goal seems simple: push harder.
Gustafsson notes that while the band hasn’t strayed from its core sound, the intensity has been dialed up, with new guitarist Christian Fredriksson contributing to multiple tracks and adding subtle variation without disrupting the formula.
Recording for In Death Throes took place across several Swedish studios in late 2025, with longtime collaborator Rikard Löfgren handling drums and vocals, while Fredriksson oversaw guitar and bass tracking. Mixing and mastering duties were once again handled by Lawrence Mackrory, whose work ensures the album hits with full force without collapsing into noise.
Visually, the band continues its collaboration with Giannis Nakos (Remedy Art Design), delivering artwork that matches the album’s sheer weight.
More than three decades in, Vomitory aren’t reinventing themselves – they’re sharpening what already made them dangerous in the first place.
And if “Wrath Unbound” is anything to go by, In Death Throes isn’t a victory lap, it’s a statement.
