Metal Lair’s Seven Deadly Songs

Welcome to Metal Lair’s Seven Deadly Songs weekly feature where we curate music from the past and the present for your listening pleasure. This week we are featuring Voraath’s album Vol. 1: Hymn of the Hunters

It is with heavy hearts that we remember Joshua “Nassaru” Ward, the drummer, vocalist and founder of the extreme metal band Voraath, who tragically lost his life on New Year’s Eve 2024 in a car accident. Joshua’s life was tragically cut short, but his contributions to the metal community and the lives he touched will never be forgotten. To honor his legacy we are celebrating his band, Voraaths latest offering Vol. 1: Hymn of the Hunters.

Voraath’s debut album, Vol 1: The Hymn of the Hunters, is a masterful blend of crushing riffs, native folk influences, and sci-fi-inspired storytelling. Featuring members from Xael, Visitant, and more, the band showcases precision drumming, blistering guitar work, and Chelsea Morrow’s volcanic vocals, which redefine ferocity in extreme metal.

Set in a dystopian Appalachian landscape, the album spins a dark tale of survival and betrayal. Tracks like “The Road to Samm Hill” and “The God-Killer Saga” balance brutality with haunting melodies, while the chilling “Sirenhead” and reflective closer “Pyrrhic” add depth to the journey. Voraath delivers an immersive metal experience, setting a bold new standard for the genre. For a more
