Ingested Denigration Album. New Single “Merciless Reflection” Streaming Now
UK technical death metal juggernauts Ingested have announced their eighth full-length album, Denigration, set for release on May 8 through Metal Blade Records.
After nearly two decades of precision brutality, Manchester’s most enduring slam export is entering a new era – not by abandoning their roots, but by sharpening them into something more calculated and more dangerous.
A New Chapter Without Losing the Violence
At the core remain founding members Sean Hynes (guitar) and Lyn Jeffs (drums), the architects behind Ingested’s evolution from underground slam demolition crew to globally touring death metal machine.
Metal Lair previously spoke with drummer Lyn Jeffs about the band’s new era and the addition of vocalist Josh Davies in our exclusive Ingested interview with Lyn Jeffs (2025).
The current lineup – vocalist Josh Davies, guitarist/vocalist Andrew Virrueta, and bassist Thomas O’Malley – delivers what the band describe as a definitive statement rather than a reset.
The Ingested Denigration album marks a new chapter for the Manchester technical death metal band.
Produced by Nico Beninato at The Arch Studios (Southport, UK) and wrapped in the unsettling artwork of Giannis Nakos (Remedy Art Design), Denigration pushes Ingested’s sound into darker terrain while still honoring the blunt-force trauma that built their name.
“Merciless Reflection”- Slam With Teeth
The first single, “Merciless Reflection”, is now streaming.
Lyrically, it spirals through intrusive thoughts, religious disillusionment, and self-loathing – what the band call “the worst room in your head.” There’s no redemption arc here. Faith isn’t a comfort. It’s another weapon.
Musically, it’s a deliberate callback to early Ingested ugliness: primitive slam riffs, caveman groove, floor-ready breakdowns – but executed with the surgical tightness they’ve developed over the years.
The track features Damonteal Harris of PeelingFlesh, reinforcing the old-school slam DNA that first defined the band.
If anyone thought Ingested had softened with time, this track answers that question quickly.
Guest Features & Track Highlights
Denigration also includes:
“Watch You Fold” featuring John Gallagher of Dying Fetus “Dragged Apart” featuring Skyler Conder (Cell) “Dredge the Dark” featuring Kyle Medina (Bodysnatcher)
It’s a lineup of collaborators that reflects Ingested’s position within modern extreme metal: respected, embedded, and still pushing forward.

Final Word
Ingested aren’t reinventing themselves for trend cycles. They’re tightening the screws on everything they’ve built – slam, groove, melody, blackened dissonance and turning it into something colder and more deliberate.
