A New Era Rising
The tour arrives in support of their upcoming album Grand Serpent Rising, set for release May 22 via Nuclear Blast.
According to frontman Shagrath, the record reflects the full scope of Dimmu Borgir’s evolution:
“It’s been a long and demanding process, but incredibly rewarding. This album carries echoes of every chapter of the band’s legacy.”
Guitarist Silenoz adds that the title represents more than just imagery:
“The serpent symbolizes renewal, growth, and transformation. It’s about shedding skin and rising again.”
That idea tracks. Eight years off the road isn’t a break, it’s a recalibration.
Lineup Shifts & What’s Next
The band recently introduced new guitarist Kjell Åge “Damage” Karlsen, who made his live debut in 2025. He steps in following the departure of longtime guitarist Galder, who exited in 2024 to revive Old Man’s Child.
And they’re not stopping here. Later this year, Dimmu Borgir will join forces with Behemoth for the In League With Satan European tour, with Dark Funeral rounding out the lineup because subtlety was never part of the plan.
