DEFTONES have just dropped the official music video for their latest single, “My Mind Is A Mountain”, a brooding and atmospheric cut from their forthcoming studio album, Private Music, due out August 22 via Reprise/Warner.
The album’s creation took the band deep into a series of evocative locations from the sun-drenched serenity of Malibu and the stark mysticism of Joshua Tree, to the musical heart of Nashville, Tennessee. Longtime collaborator and Grammy-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz once again joined DEFTONES behind the console. Private Music marks their third creative union with Raskulinecz, who previously produced Diamond Eyes (2010) and Koi No Yokan (2012).
Meanwhile, DEFTONES continue racking up major career milestones. The RIAA recently certified several records and singles with new honors: White Pony now sits at double platinum, Diamond Eyes has gone platinum, while “Change (In The House Of Flies)” is certified four times platinum, and “Be Quiet And Drive” has reached double platinum status.
2025 has also seen the band conquer their biggest headlining tour yet. DEFTONES returned to North American arenas earlier this year, their first headline run since 2022, and every single date sold out. The tour included iconic stops like Madison Square Garden in New York, TD Garden in Boston, and a two-night takeover of Kia Forum in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Times praised the shows, declaring, “DEFTONES have never been bigger, or more definitional for what young people want out of heavy music in all its gradients.”
The next leg of the tour kicks off August 22 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC, and continues across North America with arena stops in cities like Cleveland (Rocket Arena, Sept 10), Denver (Ball Arena, Sept 15), and Kansas City (T-Mobile Center, Sept 17). The run will include support from PHANTOGRAM and IDLES on select dates, while The Barbarians of California will open every show.
With a visionary new album on the horizon and the band’s legacy climbing to new heights, 2025 is shaping up to be a defining era for DEFTONES and they’re just getting started.
