UK shoegaze outfit Blanket return with their dreamy new single “Hole In My Head,” out Friday, October 10 via Adventure Cat Records.
The track is the band’s second single this year following on from their single “Bind” and stands as a defining moment for this next chapter of their sound.
“Lyrically, “Hole In My Head” came from that restless place where you’re grappling with the sense that something inside you isn’t quite right,” the band explained. “But instead of spiralling, you’re reaching for something better, trying to learn and grow through the discomfort.”
In the studio, Blanket channelled that unease into a lush, immersive soundscape. “We stacked layers of guitars and vocals, drenching them in effects delays, reverbs, modulation until they blurred into this swirling soundscape,” they add. “It’s textured, uneasy, almost like the audio equivalent of an anxious thought looping in your head. But there’s beauty in that chaos, too. It’s messy, it’s vulnerable, and it felt honest to what the song was trying to say.”
With their signature blend of cinematic shoegaze textures and emotional honesty, “Hole In My Head” captures Blanket’s ability to find light within the noise,both sonically and thematically.
“Hole In My Head” will be available everywhere Friday, October 10.
